Real Talk: the Problem with Waiting Until You're Ready

Hey, everyone and happy Thursday. I hope you all are having a wonderful week so far. Tuesday night my littles officially got their own littles, which means I am officially a gbig. Wow, do I feel old! :P Maybe it's my recent passing down of tradition or the foggy fall days, but I've been very introspective this week. For way too long I've been telling myself I'm not 'ready'-- not ready for a lot of things. I'm not ready to get the job of my dreams because I don't have enough experience. I wasn't ready to move out on my own because I don't have full time job. I wasn't ready to start a blog because I didn't know what I was doing. I'm not ready- not ready-- not ready. After unintentionally putting myself down for so long, I realized I was doing it all wrong. Because who on earth is ever 'ready'?

What I've realized in my job hunt and blog life and life post graduation in general, is that if you wait until you're ready, you'll never be ready. When I first started this blog, I was watching SarahBelle YouTube videos like it was my job and had just started piecing together my own sense of fashion. I had no idea what I was talking about and was still learning myself, but I was inspired and wanted to take the leap to start my own blog. I had no idea what I was getting myself into and wouldn't know the half of blogging for another year and half after that. Talk about not being ready! Logically, I probably should have waited. I should have done more research, read other peoples' blog, or otherwise invested in the adventure I was about to start. But the problem with waiting until you're ready is that you may never be 'ready'. There were so many things I 'needed' to know -- so many steps I should have taken-- when it came to blogging that I didn't have the knowledge about or money to invest in. Heck, there's still a lot I don't know about or things I haven't invested in. But there are so many amazing opportunities and experiences I've gained from starting this blog when I sure as hell wasn't 'ready'.



And that's life.



When will you ever be ready? How can you even know what 'ready' is if you're constantly learning and gaining new experiences? At some point in life, you realize you have a handle on things. That you're surviving without needing to fully understand all of the steps, or without investing in everything you're 'supposed' to be investing in. But if you wait to ask for that promotion, if you wait to start that new business or relationship or family -- if you keep putting your life, your passions, the things that truly inspire or excite you on hold until you're ready, you'll end up missing out on a lot of what life has to offer. All we can do is take it one day at a time and do the best we can. So don't wait until you're ready! Jump in head first. The beauty is that you've started--you've set yourself on track for something that could lead to an amazing adventure. Sure, it may be a flop, but you'll never know until you start. Some day you might find you were 'ready' all along.
