what I'm thankful for

This year, like most everyone else, I have a lot to be thankful for. I am also a huge fan of lists...because why not? So here goes:

1. Family: I would be absolutely no where without my family. Literally....literally. I mean, who else is going to put up with makeup less, haven't showered in an unacceptable amount of time, lazy, cranky me? la mia familia <3

2. Friends: for always being there for me by listening to all the things I can't tell my family members. and listening to me talk non stop about boys. or dumb girls. or the mountains of homework I have to do because I have no idea why its not getting done. wait, let me just talk more about how much homework I have to do. because I really don't want to do it and talking about it is the first step to getting it done...right?

3. University of Pittsburgh: Because even though they are robbing me blind and making it so that I will be in debt for a good majority of my life, I wouldn't want to be in debt to any other school <3 H2P.

4. Theatre: Therapy for free. and when you're broke anything for free is to be coveted. Also, I can be the weirdest version of me and no one will judge me. ...for the most part
5. Gamma Sigma Sigma: Because I love having to explain to people that it's not a social sorority, it's a service sorority. Yet still knowing that no one actually cares either way. sorority (no matter the context) = obnoxious, privileged girl (insert peace and sunflower symbol)

But for real:
1. Your family will always be there for you, no matter what. Failing out of school, spent all your money on alcohol, making poor life choices? They will still be there because they're you're family and they love you. There is nothing more important to me than my family and I am forever thankful for them.

2. When I'm off at school and having multiple emotional breakdowns a week, my friends have always been there to nervously pick up the pieces. They keep me sane. They'll always be there to listen to my horrible jokes or pointless stories. They're the glue that binds me together while I'm away. Thank you.

3. Dear old Pitt. I've had some of my most embarrassing moments here, but I've also had my most memorable moments here. Breaking into Cathy, assaulting friends in the street, other memorable moments I can't think of.. And though I cry myself to sleep most nights from the overwhelming stress of the school work you have given me, I wouldn't trade it for the world. <3

4. A wise man once told me the difference between throwing yourself off a cliff and performing on stage is that you live through one and you usually don't with the other. I'll leave it up to you to decide which is which. With that said, I have always loved theatre. It's my place. I've met some of my best friends through theatre programs and some of my most fondest moments have been on the stage. Like that one time my skirt ripped onstage during Once on this Island in the first number of the show and I had to hold it together while simultaneously attempting to dance without flashing the audience... but I digress. The most exhilarating and terrifying moments are those right before I step onto the stage, but it's worth every second of it. Whether I'm using a human being as a pole, viscously throwing clothes at some chick that slept with my fiancé or being an obnoxious Goldielocks, I'm exploring different parts of who I am. People I could be, but choose not to be. Theatre always teaches me about myself, and for that i am forever grateful.

5. "Gamma Sigma Sigma let you tribute echo far..." The only part of our song I can ever remember. Like theatre, GSS has given me so many treasured friends and priceless moments. I've found some of my best friends in this SERVICE sorority. And though we aren't technically supposed to call ourselves sisters, I feel some of these girls (my little, especially <3 (had to do a shoutout.. because I'm typical)) have become family to me. Sistas from other Mistas ...or something like that.

This is a ridiculously small list this in comparison to what all I am thankful for. I have so many things to be thankful for and a blog post could never put into words all that I am thankful for. But I enjoy lists and blogging, thus, this post. Actually now that I think about it, I'm thankful for this blog, as well. So much writing, so much happiness. Well, until next time,

xoxo,
